Cathy is working for The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management (DIEM) of Aalto University in Otaniemi, Helsinki Finland.

DIEM conducts world-class research and education focusing on the creation and transformation of technology-based business. The areas focused on are strategy and venturing, operations and service management, and entrepreneurial leadership.

DIEM research has been acknowledged internationally and research is done in close connections to diverse industries, which forms the foundations of recognized teaching.

Cathy is finishing the compliant part of her licentiate thesis consisting of two previously published academic articles and one forthcoming. Her research is concerned with organizational identity and interpretative communities. Humans have an urge to truly belong somewhere and it is a natural human need to be understood and to feel accepted by others. These feelings and unconscious behaviour is a result of created meanings in people’s minds and they are often unconsciously formed. Brands and brand identities speak to people’s unconsciousness and feelings. Cathy’s research is located in consumer behaviour and organizational studies. The forthcoming project will start as soon as the previous project is finished. Her next research project is called BRAVE.
